Welcome to Pensacola, a quiet town located on the Westernmost pare of the Florida Panhandle. With a population of fifty six thousand the area is home to many of the gulf ports and trade routes. In 2004 the area was devastated by Hurricane Ivan. Since then rebuilding has nearly come to a finish an estimated total of six billion dollars were lost in the damage.

The Pensacola area is filled with natural parks and camping areas. These include the Big Lagoon state park, the Blackwater River state park, and the Fort Pickens national park. These coastal parks offer nature trails, shallow bays, beaches, open woodland and more. Enjoy some camping, swimming, boating, canoeing, hiking and fishing! Blackwater River state parks offers a series of rivers traveling inland, Pensacola boasts that the rivers flowing through Blackwater are the clearest on the coast!

If your looking for some sightseeing be sure to drive down to the Pensacola lighthouse and view the coast from 160 feet in the air. The light house was built in 1859 and is the fourth largest brick lighthouse in the nation.

If you’re looking for some educational entertainment be sure to stop by the museum of commerce and see the re-stored and re-created street of the 1890’s. Or drive over to the T.T. Wentworth, Jr. Florida State Museum and view artifacts, paintings, and antiques and photographs retaining to the history of the panhandle. Also offered at Wentworth is a hands on discovery gallery for children, making it a family experience! Ever been interested in being a pilot? Wanted to join the air force?
