to nearly 16,000 this densely populated lakefront city is a prime
attraction for both deep sea fishers and treasure hunters. Stuart city
is located on the West Coast and is considered one of the greatest
deep-sea fishing areas, nicknaming it the Sailfish Capital of the World.
The area also became known as the “Treasure Coast;” as it was discovered
that several Spanish Galleons carrying gold and silver had sunk just
offshore. Ever since the discovery loot has been found and some hasn’t!
With
the area filled with both sea life and old shipwrecks; many divers swim
the Treasure Coast in search for both treasure and adventure. One of the
key areas of Stuart is the Bathtub reef; with the entire swimming area
surrounded by a reef the water stays calm creating a natural swimming
area.
Because of the areas interesting heritage, the city is rich with both
history and events. To view and experience the history and events be
sure to drive over to the Elliot Museum. Full of both the cities history
and artifacts from the ships the place is a great adventure for any hot
day. The museum also hosts events that circulate throughout the year;
this includes car shows, ancient history and more!
